Stars In The Grass
In my late 20’s I was enamored by a younger, wayward guy. He loved nightclubs. Beguiled I’d watch him dance wearing his jeans so low. He had an impressive knack of knowing just where the party was. One day I asked him how he knew. He answered
‘There’s always a party going on!’
That line has stayed with me for 20 years and has taken on spiritual meaning. It came to mind today while riding my bike. I noticed scattered in the grass around a picnic table were 100’s of shiny colored stars, remains of a celebration had.
Life offers up a myriad reasons for rejoicing; Every day, every hour, every breath. Cheer on! how I biked to the park on two strong legs, hip-hip-hooray that my keen eyes can SEE the stars in the grass and how later I’ll go home to my clean, safe apartment, turn on a tap and stand underneath a hot shower and afterwards browse the fridge choosing what to have for breakfast, and on we go.
The multitude of occasions we have for festive feelings is reason enough to raise a toast!
