Qantas Comfort Zone
Way back in 2000 when I was teaching a yoga classe at a gym in Double Bay, I was asked if I’d be interested in putting together a short in-flight stretch session for Qantas airlines. I’d worked as talent on loads of television commercials and knew how shows were made, I jumped at the opportunity and said yes immediately.
The production split was easy; I’d organise everything to do with me: wardrobe, hair/makeup and content and Qantas Entertainment would take care of everything else.
I set to work creating a mini yoga-based stretch and relaxation session modified for seated plane passengers. A designer friend put me on to his pattern-maker and I had a tight white aerobic ‘hot-suit’ made. Well were only JUST out of the 90’s!
I presented ENERGIZE With Kate Bell sitting in an airline seat, in a studio in Artarmon. The show aired on international flights through Qantas in-flight entertainment.
Two years pass and I’m flying home from somewhere watching in-flight entertainment and I see myself! OMG that hot-suit HAD TO GO!
Immediately an updated version of the show began forming in my mind…

Qantas Comfort Zone was made in collaboration with Walkabout Films in 2002. The travel-esque yoga-based exercise shows broadcast on Qantas international flights from 2003 to 2009. The five-show series was a world-first, subsequently leading to the creation of the airlines mind/body strategy that included Qantas Comfort Zone – a Qantas airline channel devoted to well-being.
